Early Times Report

Jammu, May 21: While as higher-ups in the Union Territory of J&K have been repeatedly claiming that upcoming 500-bedded temporary COVID hospital in the collaboration with the Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) is going to start functioning on May 25, recruitment of staff for this institute is yet to be made.
Authorities of Government Medical College Jammu issued recruitment notice on May 20 and process is likely to take some time.
Ironically DRDO has started construction of the hospital at Bhagwati Nagar in the first week of May but authorities of GMC Jammu have against adopted casual approach in recruiting staff for the same.
Advertisement for recruitment was issued on Thursday in which GMC has invited applications from eligible candidates, for engagement in this 500 bedded temporary Covid Hospital initially for a period of one year extendable up to a maximum of three years (One year at a time and further extension subject to good performance and conduct). An advertisement read that a walk-in interview shall also, be conducted for newly created posts of Medical Officers (35 posts) and the date of the interview is scheduled May 24, 2021, at Committee Room GMC Jammu at 11 am. Similarly, two other separate advertisements are inviting the applications for the posts which include Nursing Supervisor (16), Junior Staff Nurse (195), Pharmacist (47), Lab Technician (12) and X-Ray Technician (08) under different pay scales with prescribed eligibility criteria and age limit for any given post.
The twin advertisements read that the application as per prescribed format should reach to the office of Principal, Government Medical College, Jammu by or before 23.05.2021 4:30PM.
Authorities of the Health Department have claimed that the construction of two COVID hospitals with 500-bed each in Jammu and Srinagar will be completed by May 25 and June 1 respectively.
As the need for hospital beds is continuously increasing due to the rampant surge in COVID-19 cases, the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has taken up its construction and the work is currently underway. One of the hospitals is being constructed in Bhagwati Nagar, Jammu, and the other in Srinagar.
