UDHAMPUR, Oct 9: Ravi Kumar of Jammu was declared as best singer and got the most prestigious first prize in the mega final event of All India Devotional Song Competition jointly organized by the Department of Tourism, J&K Government and Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB) Katra during Navratra festival which concluded amidst chanting of bhajans and beating of drums at Yog Ashram, last night.
Zulekha Farid from Bhaderwah and Menu Atwal of Phagwara, Panjab bagged second and third prizes respectively in the bhaint competition. Other artists who participated in the mega final included Sarbjeet Singh, Mohinder Soni, Ravjot Singh, Varun Kotwal, Prinka Langay, Anshu, Vijay Kumar, Kapil Thappa, Marina Jamwal, and Vinod Magotra.
Special guest Rajan Gill, a previous topper of All India Devotional Song Competition, Katra, who had especially come from Ludhiana to participate in the final event presented melodious bhajans which were highly appreciated by the audience.
Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Sudhanshu Pandey was the chief guest on the occasion. while Deputy Commissioner, Reasi, Sanjeev Verma, Senior Superintendent of Police, Verinder Sharma, Addl. Chief Executive Officer, SMVDSB, M. K. Dwevidi, Director Tourism, Jammu, Sarita Chauhan, Joint Director Tourism, S. M. Sahani, Addl. S. P. Katra, Ashok Sharma and Deputy Director Tourism, Amit Sharma were also present on the occasion.
Noted Bollywood personalities including Managing Director of Venus Tapes and Records, Ganesh Jain, Producer Director, Mukesh Bhatt, Owner, Tips Records and Tapes Ramesh Torani, Trade Analyst and Producer, Vikas Mohan, Chief Executive Officer, Baba Films, Ajay Acharya, and Vice President, Zee Jagran Mrs. Barkha Arora were the judges of the mega final.
Rakesh Wazir who was coordinating the mega event, compared the proceeding of the programme.
Among others, President J&K India Style Wrestling Association Mr, Shiv Kumar Sharma, President Cultural Association Katra, Surinder Khajuria, President Hassya Vayang Manch, Gopal Padha, Members of Navratra festival committee including Sardari Lal Dubey, S. R. Kotwal and prominent citizens were present on the occasion. |
