| Baglihar to boost state’s economy: Tarigami | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Oct 10: Expressing his pleasure over the inauguration of Baglihar Hydroelectric project and Qazigund Baramulla Railway track by Prime Minster, Dr. Manmohan Singh, CPI (M) leader Mohammed Yusuf Targimagi has said that these mega projects would give a momentum to the economy of the State. He said that the completion of Phase first of Baglihar power project, in addition to boosting the power generation, will also create much needed employment to a considerable section of youth of the state. Tarigami, however said that the implementation of Ranga Rajan recommendations that have suggested handing over of some power projects to the State be ensured immediately and urged upon the authorities that the next of the kin of those labourers who lost their lives while working in Baglihar power project be provided jobs in the said project. He urged for timely completion of Udhampur- Baramulla Railway project by removing the impediments in its execution and suggested for safe guarding the interests of the labourers engaged in Baglihar and Railway Projects. He said, besides taking concrete efforts for rapid development of the State, initiating a meaningful dialogue with the separatists is inevitable for amicable resolution of the issues pertaining to Jammu and Kashmir and to create a conducive environment for a logical dialogue was the obligation of both Central and State governments, he added. He, however, felt that the role of people of Jammu and Kashmir can not be marginalized in this regard. "Alienation among the people of the State be addressed with a sincerity and all those prisoners not involved in heinous crimes be released ". |
