EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Oct 10: The Jammu and Kashmir unit of Dainik Jagran Group of Publications today celebrated the 74th birth anniversary of Late Narendra Mohan, Member Parliament and Poorva Prathan Sampadak (former Editor-in-Chief), Dainik Jagran Group and publisher for India's largest selling Hindi newspaper Dainik Jagran. All the offices and sub-offices of Dainik Jagran in the entire state celebrated the birth anniversary with enthusiasm by organizing blood donation camps, poetry recitation, painting competitions etc. Late Mr. Narendra Mohan, a former chairman of PTI, was known for his dedicated journalism and deep simplicity and sincerity. Fondly remembered as Mohan Babu, he was awarded Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Award in1986 for outstanding contribution to Journalism besides Matrushree Award (Delhi) in1989. Professor Amitabh Mattoo, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu and Member, National Knowledge Commission, inaugurated a blood donation camp at the Blood Bank, SMGS Hospital to commemorate the birth anniversary of Mohan Babu. Dr Rajinder Singh, Principal, Government Medical College (GMC), Jammu, Abhimanyu Sharma, Editor, Dainik Jagran, J&K and Mudit Chaturvedi, Manager Administration, Dainik Jagran, were also present at the occasion besides a number of doctors. Paying glowing tributes to Narendra Mohan, Professor Mattoo recalled his valuable contribution in the field of Hindi journalism and said that he championed in steering the Dainik Jagran to its unsurpassable position today with 30 editions, a massive 19-odd million readers, apart from being one of the most influential newspapers in the country. Over 30 staffers of Dainik Jagran newspaper donated blood at the camp. Those who were present at the occasion included Dr Satish Sharma, Deputy Medical Superintendent, SMGS Hospital, Jammu, Dr. T.R.Raina, Incharge, Blood Bank, Dr Raman Kapoor, Dr. Kamaljeet Singh, Dr. Sonam, Mr Dinesh Gupta, executive secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, District Branch, Jammu, Matron Kamla and Babita, Rakesh and Tarsem. |
