| Baglihar relief to J&K people: Chaman | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Oct 10: Welcoming the inauguration to first unit of the 450 MW of much delayed Baghliar Hydel Power Project on the river Chenab and the program for rolling of train on an isolated track in the valley of Kashmir, senior BJP leader, Prof Chaman Lal Gupta has impressed upon the visiting Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh, to come out in clear cut terms that when the eight hydel power projects in this State would be completed. He asked the Prime Minister that what has gone wrong to his statement at Jammu some four years back and why the eight major hydel power projects including Bursur (1020 MWs), Pakal Dool (1000 MWs), Kishan ganga (330 MWs) Uri, Sewa II, Chuttak and NOMO Bazgo could not go ahead despite expiry of four years now. Gupta reminded the Prime Minister about his promise at Parade Ground Jammu at the public meeting on November 18, 2004 "that a comprehensive plan has been formulated to steer the State out of the nightmare of recurring power. "Inauguration of the Baghliar state owned project would provide some relief to the people but it could not fully solve the much needed electricity needs for the growth of industrial and agriculture, in addition to the domestic needs of the people of the state," he said. He said that PM had given a solemn pledge that "Katra-Qazigund track would be ready by 2007 positively" but now Manmohan Singh is going to inaugurate just a small track of the rail within the valley itself without explaining that when the Udhampur-Katra and then onwards to Qazigund track would see the running of the rails. |
