| U-16 Cricket: J&K loses to Punjab by 8 wkts | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Oct 10: Playing in their fourth and last league match in the North Zone under-16 (school) one-day (Group-B) tournament for Polly Umrigar Trophy, J&K lost to Punjab by eight wickets at Una in Himachal Pradesh today. Opted to field after winning the toss, Punjab bowled out J&K for a partly total of 103 runs in 42 overs of the 50 overs match. Later Punjab overhauled the total in 23 overs with eight wickets in hand. According to the reports reaching here, Jatin was top scorer with 34 runs from J&K, while Siddharth Magotra contributed 30, followed by Paras Sharma, who made 18 runs. Batting second, Punjab attained the goal, rather easily, making 104 runs for the loss of two wickets sparing 27 overs of their innings. Jatin clinched both the wickets. Out of four matches played in this zonal level league competition, J&K lost three and won one game against Haryana on October five. The J&K Group-B team was represented by Tawish Scholars School, Jammu—winner of the inter-school tournament held at GGM Science College Hostel ground, here before departure of the team for Himachal. In Group-A of the under-16 competition, J&K is represented by Burn Hall School--winner of inter-school competitions held at Kashmir. |
