JAMMU, Oct 11: Showing his complete dominance on the opening day, Manik Wanchoo of Jammu district excelled with three gold medal in the two-day inter-district under-14 year (school) swimming competitions organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) at M A Stadium, here today.
Manik won gold medal in 100 meter free style, 200 meters free style and 50 butter fly events thus showing his complete dominance over other competitors in under-14 year group.
In all, two districts of Jammu and Srinagar are taking part in the swimming competitions in three age groups of under-14, under-17 and under-19 in both boys and girls sections.
Earlier, the competitions were declared open by the Deputy Director DYSS, Madan Lal. The swimming events are being held under the supervision of Assistant Director DYSS, Ashok Kumar. On the opening day, member selection committee, Assistant Director, S S Bali was also present. Prominent among others present were R C Vaid, Jeet Singh, Sunita Goel and Sarita Pandha.

BOYS U-14 year: 50 mts back stroke: Danish Hamid, Ist; Irshad Ahmed Bhat, 2nd and Kartik Gupta, third. 50 mts breast stroke: Irshad Ahmed, Ist; Wasim Raja, 2nd and Bhanu Partap, third. 100 mts back stroke: Arnav Kamal, Ist; Danish Hamid, 2nd and Kartik Gupta, third. 200 mts: Manik Wanchoo, Ist; Wasim Raja, 2nd and Shivang Puri, third. 50 mts butter fly: Manik Wanchoo, Ist; Nasir Hussain, 2nd and Mohd Abass, third. 50 mts free style: Nassir Hussain, Ist; Irshad Ahmed, 2nd and Sambhav Koul, third. 100 breast stroke: Wasim Raja, Ist; Arnav Kamal, 2nd and Ayush Himanshwar, third. 100 mts free style: Manik Wanchoo, Ist; Nasir Hussain, 2nd and Irshad Ahmed Bhat, third.
