| 1993 Mumbai blasts:4 members of Memon family found guilty | | |
Mumbai, Sep 12 Four family members of Tiger Memon, one of the main accused in the 1993 serial blasts case, were today found guilty in the case by a special TADA court which set free three other family members.
More than 13 years after the terror strikes in the metropolis following the demolition of the Babri mosque in Ayodhaya, Judge P D Kode of the designated TADA court began pronouncing the verdict in batches, starting with accused number one to eight, all family members of Ibrahim Mushtaq alias Tiger Memon.
While Yakub, Yusuf and Essa - all brothers of Tiger Memon - and Rubina Memon were found guilty of involvement in conspiracy hatched for serial bomb blasts, Suleiman alias Arif, Rahin and Hanifa were set free by the court.
The court said although there was no clear case for acquittal of the trio, there was not enough evidence to convict them and hence benefit of doubt was given to them.
Arguments between defence and prosecution on the quantum of sentence for the four convicted Memon family members were on. |
