Employees gearing up for Oct 15 strike
‘Implement pay commission report before elections’

JAMMU, Oct 12: The leaders of all J&K Government employees joint action committee in a joint statement have asked all the government employees near divisional commissioners office on October 15 at11 A.M and hold massive rally with regard to employees demands which include immediate implementation of 6th pay commission recommendations and other genuine demands before announcement of date for elections.
The all J&K and Ladakh teachers association in a press conference held here extend support to Kam Chhod Hartal on October 15 and urged upon the Governor N.N Vohra to intervene in the matter personally in implementing recommendations of pay commission in the state. Teacher community have urged to participate in great number in the rally on the said date.
The J&K college non-teaching employees association in a meeting also extended full support to one day token strike call given by Joint employees committee. The non-teaching of all colleges have been asked to participate in the rally at Old secretariat for common demands of the employees. Among other demands is to bifurcate Directorate of Colleges in the state like other departments and to held DPC meeting.
Meanwhile, State President Jammu and Kashmir National Trade Union Front (JKNTUF) Mohammed Gafoor Dar has endorsed the decision of October 15 strike call given by Government Employees Joint Action Committee for implementation of 6th pay commission in toto.
The strike call has been given in support of demands of implementation of 6th pay commission, regularization of services of Anganwari workers, daily rated workers Rehbre Zarait, E-VE and RET teachers, adhoc and contractual workers, enhancement of wages of daily rated workers and Anganwari workers at least Rs.200 per day, revival of LTC and Medi-claim Policy, implementation of the agreement held with clerical cadre and enhancement of retirement age 58 to 60.
Dar along with the heads of other organizations at a press conference have appealed to the State Government employees, workers and rank and file of the Front to observe one day complete Kam Chod Hartal on October, 15, 2008 through out J&K State.
He said that employees of Jammu city will assemble in old Secretariat at Mubarak Mandi in front of Divisional Commissioner’s office where a massive rally of employees will be held to announce future course of action.
Meanwhile in a separate press conference, All Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh Teachers Balwan Singh Jamwal, president of the Federation expressed his serious concern over the delaying tactics and indifferent attitude of the State Government towards the burning problems of the state employees and sought Governor’s intervention in resolving the long pending demands.
