| Mahajan stresses regional balance | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Oct 12: Reiterating his party's commitment to provide equal opportunities of development to all regions and sub-regions of the State, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) vice president and MLC Ved Mahajan today said that idea of ‘Self Rule’ being propagated by the party was the only and viable solution for removing regional disparities and to satiate the aspirations and wishes of all sections of the society. Addressing an impressive public meeting at Bajalta area of Nagrota assembly constituency, today Mahajan pointed towards statement of former Union Minister and BJP leader Prof Chaman Lal Gupta who had demanded provincial council for Jammu. "Demand of the provincial council is vindication of the stand taken by the PDP to decentralize the power", he said and informed the gathering that PDP, through the proposal of Self Rule, has been advocating for the empowerment of all the regions and sub-regions of the state. Taking a dig at those who have launched a vilification campaign against PDP, Mahajan said that policies and programmes of the party were guided by the wishes and aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. Those indulging in launching vicious propaganda against PDP should keep in mind that three year regime of Mufti Mohammad Sayed was an era of development and good governance in the history of Jammu and Kashmir. Welcoming visit of traders from other side of Kashmir for holding discussions to start cross LoC trade, Mahajan demanded opening of Suchetgarh-Sailkote road to facilitate trade between two countries. He was of the opinion that opening of this route would provide opportunity for growth to the traders and business community of Jammu region. He called upon the local traders to launch a campaign for opening of Suchetgarh-Sailkote road. Neeraj Sharma, vice president PDP Jammu rural, Sansar Chand, Nazir Ahmed, Dr Ramnath, Madan Lal Khurana, Jamat Ali also addressed the meeting. |
