| 70 houses gutted in Warwan villages | | Losses to mosque, shops also | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 12: In yet another mysterious fire incident more 70 than houses and thatched structures including cowsheds were gutted at Choidharan Hargam, of Warwan, a remote and inaccessible area of Kishtwar districts last night. Fire broke out in the Chui Draman village late last night under mysterious circumstances and it soon engulfed the entire village, sources said adding the initial reports available with the district administration reveal that over 70 structures including residential houses, cowsheds, shops and a local Masjid suffered total damage in the devastating fire, while 20 other residential structures were partially damaged. To provide immediate relief to the affected families, Divisional Commissioner Jammu Sudhanshu Pandey ordered airlifting of relief material comprising tents, blankets, mattresses, cloths and kitchen sets to the area. The relief material was today taken to the affected village by Secretary Red Cross Society Anil Padha. On the directions of Divisional Commissioner, a team of officers comprising Additional District Development Commissioner Kishtwar, SSP Kishtwar and officers of Forest and Police departments has rushed to the site of the incident for assessment of the loss and situation on ground and distribution of relief material. Meanwhile, former Chief Minister, Ghulam Nabi Azad has expressed deep sorrow over the fire incident at Wadwan, Kistwar in which several residential houses were gutted. Azad has appealed the government to provide immediate relief to the fire victims. With the commencement of the winter, Azad said that the affected families be provided timber, tin sheets for reconstruction of the gutted houses. He also demanded for free ration for the fire victims.
