| Doctors absent from GMC? | | LJSP holds protest | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Oct 13: The workers of the state unit of the Lok Jan Shakti Party(LJSP) today held a protest demonstration outside the Press Club here, in protest against the absenteeism of doctors in Government Medical College Hospital Jammu, during the odd hours and particularly on Sundays, risking the lives of patients. A team of LJSP party leaders, who visited hospital yesterday at 5 am in connection with the treatment of a party worker, found no doctor available in the hospital. Rafiq Malik President LJSP informed that two patients had died yesterday due to non availability of medical treatment to them, since there was no doctor available. The party has demanded that a good number of doctors should remain present in the prestigious hospital, attached with the medical college, to attend to the emergency cases. Malik warned that if the things are not improved and the callous attitude of the authorities towards the patients continues, the LJSP workers will hold strong demonstration outside and even within the Medical College Hospital premises. Besides Malik, others who participated in the protest demonstration included Surjit Singh Chib, Dayal Singh, Raj Sharma, Sajid Mir, Shariq Khan, Sudesh Puri, Mohinder Kour M R Puri and Ram Chand Bhagat. |
