19 defaulters booked under ECA

JAMMU, Oct 13: To ensure strict implementation of Essential Commodities Act against overcharging and use of domestic cylinders in commercial establishments during ensuing festival, a team of Enforcement Officers under the guidance of Deputy Director (S),. Pardeep Kumar along with Assistant Director (Enforcement Wing) and Assistant Director (Essential Commodities), conducted market checking at various outlets of commercial establishments/ fast-food venders, halwali shops, fenia katlamay manufactures, sweet manufactures, karyana shops in Peer Mitha, Jain Bazar, Moti Bazar, Purani Mandi, Parade, Jewal Chowk, Canal Road, Vikram Chowk, Panama Chowk, Channi Himmat.
The team booked 19 defaulters and realized a fine of Rs. 6700 from them for violation of Price Display Order.
The department has already directed the fruit/ vegetable sellers to display price lists and restrain from overcharging.
