J&K feel highly disappointed by Ayushman Bharat Scheme: Tarun Uppal
6/14/2021 12:25:40 AM

EARLY TIMES REPORT

JAMMU, June 13: While raising serious concern over the problems being faced by the general public related to health care for being unable to get benefits of Ayushman Bharat Scheme in Jammu and Kashmir, Chairperson Nirbhay Bharat Foundation (NBF), Tarun Uppal has sought immediate intervention of the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha in the matter for issuing the requisite directions to the concerned authorities.
In a statement issued to media here today, Tarun Uppal said that it is really an irony that the significant health scheme launched by the Union Government in the form of Ayushman Bharat Scheme amidst enthusiasm with the aim of securing health of the people has proved to be a big joke for the people in Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory. He said that people across J&K feel highly disappointed by this much talked about and hyped scheme as the government hospitals in Jammu and Kashmir refuse to entertain Golden Cards. The stand taken by private hospitals on the issue is also the same thus leaving the ailing needy people to fend for themselves, he added.
The NBF Chairman alleged that there are multiple reports of some Health Department personnel including the doctors asking the patients to go to Prime Minister’s office to get the benefit of Golden Cards under Ayushman Bharat Scheme. Uppal said that one fails to understand that while BJP senior leaders are distributing such cards in large numbers to the people of Jammu and Kashmir why they are not taking cognizance of the fact that all their efforts are going waste as the ground reality reveals that these cards are not being entertained by the authorities in the government as well as private health institutions. The NBF Chairperson made a fervent appeal to the Lt Governor, Manoj Sinha who launched this Scheme in this Union Territory to personally intervene into the matter and direct the authorities concerned to entertain the health cards of the people and provide the due benefits of this scheme so that needy people do not suffer on this account any more.
