EARLY TIMES REPORT

JAMMU, June 13: Dogri Sanstha Jammu continued its drive to acquaint the present generation, especially the youngsters, to the poetic works of veteran Dogri writers, who laid the foundation of modern poetry in Dogri.
In an on-line programme on digital platform, Dogri Sanstha organized a poetry recitation programme in which the poetry of veteran Dogri writers Prof Ramnath Shastri, Parmanand Almast, Kehri Singh Madhukar, Vedpal Deep and Yash Sharma, was recited by the poets of present generation, namely Susheel Begana, Prof Lalit Magotra, Promila Manhas, Dr Arvind Raina and Vijaya Thakur, respectively.
In the introductory remarks at the beginning of the programme, Prof Lalit Magotra, President Dogri Sanstha emphasized that this unique effort is aimed, on one hand, at popularizing Dogri literature and language and, on the other it is aimed at inculcating a sense of pride among the youth for their rich and excellent literary heritage.
He said that by reciting gems of poetry, penned down decades back by the great geniuses who are no more with us, we intend to honour their memory.
The poets of the present generation, who recited the poems are themselves writers of great repute, hence the programme attained a very high literary level and was spellbinding.
The proceeding was conducted by well-known Dogri writer Rajeshwar Raju, who provided a brief introduction of each poet, whose poetry was recited. Dr Chanchal Bhasin, Secretary of Dogri Sanstha Jammu presented a vote of thanks at the conclusion of the programme. Technical support for the programme was provided by Pawan Verma.
