| DGP reviews security situation in Ladakh | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT SRINAGAR, Oct 14: Director General of Police, Kuldeep Khoda who is on a 2-day tour of Ladakh region has lauded the role of police force and other security forces performing their professional duties in difficult times and stressed upon all ranks to keep high morale and maintain greater coordination among all the security agencies at various levels. Reviewing the overall security scenario in region, the Director General of Police, has asked the police personnel to remain vigilant in their jurisdictions and to strengthen their contacts with the people and other security forces to face the challenges. He stressed for maintaining close rapport among all the security agencies at various levels to achieve better results. Addressing senior police officers at a meeting, Khoda said that due to the dedication of the force, the JKP has achieved better results in the front of combating the militancy on ground. He said during past nine months, more than 26 top foreign and local militants were eliminated in militancy related operations conduced jointly by Police, Army and CRPF in various parts of the state. He said people were appreciative of the role of the Jammu and Kashmir Police in combating the militancy with focused attention on ensuring that civilians were not harmed. He added that this is only because JKP has been in the forefront to ensure the safety and protection of life and property of civilians. Khoda said Jammu and Kashmir Police has attained highest degree of professionalism in dealing with volatile situations created by various forms of terrorism over the years. He said that though incidents of violence have come down to a large extent, yet, we have not to keep any loophole unplugged. He asked all ranks to put in head and heart for better excellence and render their duty as best as possible. Addressing the Darbar of Jawans and offices at District Police Lines Leh, the DGP said that there was a long felt need for creation of new posts in various wings of the Organization and recent decision of the State Administrative Council to make available additional 1433 posts in Traffic and 2625 in Railways would streamline the working of various wings. He said this would also provide employment opportunities to un-employed youth of Ladakh region also besides opening of promotion prospects in a big way for in-service jawans and officers of the department. Referring to the welfare measures, Khoda said that during last nine months more than Rs. 8.54 crores were released under various welfare schemes to the next of kin (NOKs) of deceased police personnel in the shape of ex-gratia relief. The DGP also had a meeting with the GOC 14 Corps in which senior army officers participated and discussed the security scenario in the region. |
