| Hawala conduit denied bail | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT DODA, Oct 14: Chief Judicial Magistrate Doda, Balbir Lal Jaswal today rejected the bail application of one Imtyaz-ur-Rehman son of Late Rehmat Ullah Bhat resident of Bhaderwah, who was booked under various sections of Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. According to the police case on September 19, 2008 Additional SP (ops) Doda received information that one militant of HM outfit namely Altaf Hussain Malik son of Abdul Gani Malik resident of Gandoh Doda is on its way from Bhaderwah to Gandoh and carrying money for militant organization which he received from the above mentioned accused. On this information police along with RR troops laid a Naka at Domail Pull-Doda and arrested Abdul Gani Malik and recovered an amount of Rs 1, 28, 000 (hawala money) and mobile phone from his possession. On questioning the accused admitted that he has received the said money from the above mentioned accused. Senior Prosecuting officer who appeared for the State opposed the bail application on various grounds, including that a serious and heinous offence has been committed by the accused and if the bail is granted, he will hamper the process of investigation and will indulge in the terrorist activities, as he is involved in the transportation of Hawala money. After considering the arguments, Chief Judicial Magistrate rejected the bail application. JNF |
