| Challan against two Xens, 5 others | | Rs.11 lakhs misuse case | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Oct 14: State Vigilance Organization today produced challan, against two executive engineers of Roads and Buildings Department for misappropriation of over Rs. 11 lakhs in purchase of stores at highly exorbitant rates, in the court of Special Judge Anticorruption Kashmir. Those challaned included H Nazir Ahmad Shah and Abdul Ahad Najar Executive Engineers of R&B Division Sopore and five suppliers. A case under FIR No.27/2005 P/S VOK was registered on August 30, 2005 into the allegations of abuse of official position and misappropriation of Government money by the Executive Engineers of R&B Division Sopore in league with five local suppliers between the period 2003-2005 by resorting to purchase of stores such as reflective cat eye (road studs), paints, primer, warmish, distemper and rapidite from favourite dealers on highly exorbitant rates. In the course of investigation it was revealed that the accused officers in furtherance of a criminal conspiracy with the suppliers siphoned off Government money in purchase of various stores on highly exorbitant rates through stage managed collusive and controlled quotations, thereby causing loss of Rs.11.04 lakhs to the state exchequer. After accord of sanction for prosecution by the Government the challan was produced in the court of law today. |
