With this startling revelation, next time be careful about your secrecy while talking on BSNL and check twice before paying bill your bill. You may be paying for someone else’s talk time. In a glaring case, perhaps one its kind, a BSNL subscriber was taken aback by a fat bill he received after time after buying the SIM. Interestingly, it was first bill for this particular subscriber but it carried details of a previous unpaid bill which made the subscriber jittery. Moving on to find out reason for an unexpectedly high bill, to the utter surprise, it came out that two subscribers were using the same number. Amit Sharma, a lecturer in a local private College had to face a worst ordeal of his life after a bought a BSNL SIM. From this harassed subscriber thanks, however, are due to the BSNL authorities for taking cognizance of the fault on being reported and taking corrective measures. But question remains if it is safe to speak on BSNL when one number can have two users. Faced with the wrath of the BSNL officials without any reason it was finally his fortune that he directly approached to the General Manager Telecom district Jammu who on spot ordered an enquiry and sorted out the matter besides imposing penalty of Rs 500 on erring employees. Amit Sharma had purchased a 725 planned BSNL SIM card of number 9419106525 from Mahaveer Radios two months earlier. He was shocked when he received his first bill amounting to rupees 6543 and the mocking incident is that it was written including previous amount on it. He rushed to BSNL office to confirm but he was told that he had Rs 99 plan in his credit. He rushed to Mahaveer Radios where they informed that they had submitted Rs 725 plan in favour of him. He was suggested that to pay his dues otherwise his connection will be disconnected which he paid. He was still in dilemma when another bill amounting to Rs 4500 was issued to him. This time he again went to BSNL office where an employee Sunil Sharma, a commercial officer, told him to pay his bills regularly till a higher officer returns from three-month long leave to sort out the matter. The hapless subscriber then approached the Early Times and before reporting his ordeal the matter was brought to notice of General Manager Telecommunication district Jammu who immediately convened a meeting with other officers of the organisation including DGM mobile, CEO mobile and came to conclusion that the same number is being used by two persons. He imposed fine of Rs 500 to the employee due to the negligence and ordered inquiry in the matter besides asked the subscriber to pay rupees 725 only as a tariff till the enquiry is completed and assured him that the rupees he had paid will be adjusted in his future bills. |
