| Students take plantation drive | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Oct 15: The art of living “MGESUTA” – Jammu volunteers initiated plantation drive under “Mission Green Earth Stand up take action 2008” in the campus of Mahant Bachitter college of engineering and technology, Bablina here today. Mahant Manjeet Singh, the sole trustee of the college launched the drive by planting a sapling of Chinar in the campus along with the Sardar, Rangil Singh and Dr. A.S Sudan Director of the college. Principal, Pawan Kumar while speaking on occasion appreciated initiative of the volunteers of MGESUTA for taking up the campaign which includes tree plantation and awareness raising activities in the state. He also assured of every possible help on his behalf to Aol Volunteer. Under the initiative the 100 students among with teaching faculty of computer science and electric Engg. Of College voluntary adopted and planted same number of trees namely chinar, amla, harad, behada, Jacranda, Simbal, Bael, Teak, Arjun and Jamun with the pledge that they will nurture each adopted tree ensuring environmental sustainability. The volunteers of MGESUTA whiel educating the students of the college informed that MGESUTA is an initiative taken by United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), United Nations Millennum Campaign (UNMC) in association with Art of living foundation (AOL) to plant to 100 million trees world wide and lauded the support of college management and students for joining hands for this noble cause and seeked their support for future plantation drive. Those who planted sapling on the occasion include Gurbaksh Phonsa, Jatinder Kour, Kunal Sharma, Randeep Singh, Deepti Sharma, Jamani Sharma (all faculty member) and Priyanka Sawhney, Manider Singh, Supriya Chouhan, Rahul Jamwal, Pallavi Khajuria and Rahul Koul apart of Art from Art of Living Volunteers. |
