| Employees strike affects office work | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Oct 15: The normal work in almost all the government offices, including the Government Degree Colleges of the state, remain paralyzed due to one day 'pen down' strike call given by the All Jammu and Kashmir Employees Joint Action Committee (EJAC) in support of their demands including implementation of 6th pay commission recommendations in the state. The reports said that the usual work in almost all the government offices including the Government Degree Colleges of all three regions of the state including Jammu, Srinagar and Ladakh, remained paralyzed due to one day pen down strike call given by the EJAC. The EJAC has been demanding implementation of 6th pay commission recommendations in the state besides regularization of all the daily wagers, consolidated workers and Adhoc employees, enhancement of the retirement age from 58 to 60 years and revival of Mediclaim policy. Ram Kumar Sharma president of EJAC claimed that complete strike was observed by the government employees in all parts of the state and the whole administrative work came to a standstill. "This is a symbolic protest and we want to remind the government of our genuine demands. We will give final ultimatum to the Governor of the state if our demands are not considered soon then we will intensify our struggle", Kumar added. However, reports further said that Governor had called the members of Joint Action Committee (JAC) for talks this morning and 10 members of JAC from Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh had left for the valley for talks. |
