| Road connectivity enhanced in Kargil | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT KARGIL, Oct 16: To provide better communication infrastructures facilities in district Kargil, over Rs. 11.60 crore is earmarked for construction of road connectivity during current financial year under district plan. During the year 2007-08, against the target of 62.62 Kms, 46.36 Km length on road has been completed, of this 11.60 Km were black topped, 9.40 Kms mattled/shingled and 25.35 kms fair weather road constructed. Out of total 80 ongoing schemes, 27 ongoing schemes has been completed during the year 2007-08 and work on 53 remaining schemes are going expeditiously and expected to be completed during current financial year. The public works department, Kargil is maintaining a road length of 824.90 Km as on ending March, 2008. Under Asian Development band aided projects, three projects are in progress through Economic Reconstruction Agency (ERA) at total estimated cost of Rs. 618.00 lacs in the district which includes strengthening of GM pore trespone road, construction of Motorable Bridge at Tharumsa and up-gradation of roads in Kargil town including Goma-Kargil road respectively. Under NABARD twenty four projects are in progress at an estimated cost of Rs. 487.85 lacs in Kargil district, out of which 14 schemes has been completed during the year 2007-08 and remaining 10 schemes are to be completed during the current financial year. |
