| Jammu maintains dominance in Handball | | Inter-district competitions | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Oct 16: Winning finals in all three age groups of under-14, under-17 and under-19 year, Jammu district maintained boys maintained their dominance in the annual inter-district (Jammu province-school) handball competitions organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) at District Police Lines (DPL) grounds, here today. In under-19 group, Jammu district trounced Poonch 10-4 in the final. Earlier, in the semi-finals, Jammu beat district Rajouri 11-6 while Poonch defeated district Doda 10-2 to make it into the final. In the under-17 year category final, Jammu beat Udhampur district15-6. In the semi-finals, which were played in the morning session, Jammu outplayed Doda 16-2 while Udhampur beat last year’s runners-up district Poonch 10-3. To make it second consecutive triple title, Jammu district boys trounced Doda 11-2 in the under-14 year final. Earlier, in a semi-final match, Doda beat Udhampur in a close contest 3-2. In all, three teams took part in the under-14 year category. In the finals and prize distribution function, Deputy Director DYSS, Madan Lal was chief guest. He distributed certificates among the winners and runners-up teams as also gave away team championship trophies. Deputy Director was accompanied by Assistant Director DYSS, Ashok Kumar. Prominent among others present were Usha Jamwal, Chanchal Kour, Jeet Singh, R C Vaid and Sunita Goel (all Zonal Physical Education Officers). |
