| Udhampur emerge winner in girls U-14 Handball | | Inter-district competitions | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Oct 16: Girls from Udhampur district emerged the winners beating their counterparts from Jammu district in the under-14 year final in the inter-district (Jammu province) handball tournament organized by Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) at District Police Lines (DPL) grounds, here today. However, Jammu retained the title in under-19 year age group after the district girls outplayed Kishtwar 7-1 in the final easily. In under-17 year category, only Jammu girls team turned-up the venue resulting into organizers declaring the city girls winner. Earlier, in the under-19 semi-finals, played today, Jammu defeated Doda 10-1 while Kishtwar blanked district Udhampur 3-0. In a quarterfinal match, district Doda beat Poonch 3-1 in a low scoring match. In all, five teams took part in the under-19 year group. Deputy Director DYSS, Madan Lal was chief guest in the finals, who gave away winners and runners-up trophies. Earlier, the competitions were declared open by Superintendent of Police, MDS Jamwal. The opening function was presided over by R P Choudhary, Project Director Child Development. |
