| Chandpreet guides ASCOMS to final | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Oct 16: State champion Chandpreet Kour today guided Acharya Shrichandra College of Medical Sciences (ASCOMS) to the final of inter-college women’s table tennis competitions. She won both her singles matches to help her college beat the fighting Government College for Women (GCW) Gandhi Nagar 3-1 in the semi-finals.
However, in the second semi-final, GCW Parade got entry into the final uncontested getting walkover last year’s runners-up, PG Departments. In fact, except for GCW Parade, none of the six teams (including PG Departments) in upper part of the women fixture turned-up for the competition thus making the women table tennis competitions mere a `formality’.
The results: Semi-final: ASCOMS bt GCW Gandhi Nagar 3-1: Singles: Bharti Gupta lost to Samriti 5-11, 7-11; Chandpreet Kour bt Priyanka 11-1, 11-1; Isha Gupta bt Ravneet Kour 11-1, 11-6. Reverse singles: Chandpreet Kour bt Samriti 11-5, 11-5. |
