| BJP Mahila wing organizing Jagriti Sammelan | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Oct 17: To focus its attention primarily on five basic issues facing the women folk in the state, the BJP Mahila will be organizing ‘Mahila Jagriti Sammelan on October 19 at Parade Ground here. BJP Mahila Morcha National President and Member of Parliament Kiran Maheshwari will set in motion the process aimed at bringing women-folk in the state on the BJP platform. Addressing media persons here today BJP Mahila Morcha State President Usha Choudhary, along with Mahila Morcha Prabhari Suresh Jamwal, Morcha Vice-president. Mamta Singh and Morcha General Secretary Raj Rani Jamwal, said the Mahila Morcha believes that the recent agitation over Shri Amarnath land row has given an all together new orientation to the Jammu polity. It was not the tradition in Jammu that women and children would come on the streets and fight not only for the national cause but also for their civil and political rights. The fact that 1.82 lakh women courted arrest during the course of agitation has established that the women-folk is committed to make supreme sacrifices. She said the Jagriti Sammelan would focus its attention primarily on five basic issues facing the women folk in the state. Regretting that Congress and the PDP parties which are headed by women have never bothered to women their rightful place in the society or in the decision making bodies. She said the Jagriti Sammelan will expose the gender bias, rising prices, discrimination against Jammu region in the matter of admissions and employment. She said BJP Mahila Morcha is right in denouncing the state government as the youth of Jammu got a paltry 12.50 per cent share in MBBS course this year while the rare of employment was as high as 69.75 per cent. She said the Morcha has planned to reach every household in Jammu to educate the public opinion in general and women-folk in particular so that the Congress, PDP and NC, ‘which according to her are anti-women’, are defeated. |
