| Socialist students pay tributes to 1966 martyrs | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Oct 17: To pay floral tributes to the Martyr’s of 1966 namely Gurcharan Singh, Brij Mohan, Subash Chander and Gulshan Honda killed in brutal police firing for demanding separate University, Medical and Ayurvedic College for Jammu region, Students Socialist (SS) Federation today took out a massive Peace Marchy in which the students of different educational institutions and activists of the Federatioin marched Bare Footed from Jammu University to Shaheedi Sathal raising slogans in favour of the great Martyr’s. While highlighting their sacrifices, Ramji Sharma and Harpreet Singh Sethi, State Secretary, S.S.F. stated that it was all due to their sacrifices that we are having separate Universities and Colleges in Jammu region. They called upon S.S.F cadre to take further initiatives to unite the student community for a common cause and ensure the delivery of justice to the Jammu students. While paying tributes Zamir Muslim, legal advisor, SSF said that time have changed over the decades but the step motherly treatment and discriminatory attitude of Kashmiri Hukumrans has not changed which has aggravated the issues of massive unemployment, inequality and regional discrimination which persist even today. On the occasion the students kept two minutes silence and paid tributes to the martyr’s and also took a solemn pledge to work for the welfare of humanity and fight against the menace of drugs, violence, hatred and ensure justice to common man. Among others present on the occasion were S. Kamaldeep Singh, Neeraj Sharma, Shafait Malik, Arun Sharma and Sajed Jafri. |
