BSP unrest settled at a cost
Bhagat expelled; dirty linen washing goes public
10/17/2008 11:55:36 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Oct 17: The embarrassing unrest in the camp of Bahujan Samaj Party today settled down with expulsion of its apologetic yet defiant state president Yash Pal Bhagat who had on Friday felt “guilty” on challenging authority of its national general secretary Narinder Kashyap.
It was a tactic move from both sides but Bhagat emerged a major loser in the plot. On Wednesday he charged the all-powerful Uttar Pradesh MLC and J&K incharge of BJP Narinder Kashyap for misappropriating the process of selecting candidates for the assembly elections. Apparently under pressure, on Thursday he not only ate up all his allegations against Kashyap but also tendered a public apology.
Probably, Kashyap was waiting for an apology from Bhagat to make the next move. Soon after Bhagat’s apology was reported in the media, Kashyap announced removal from the post of state president and also expulsion from the party. The score now stands settled. Tulsi Das Langeh, who with the Peoples Democratic Party for a brief while, has been appointed as new state president.
Now since Yash Pal Bhagat has been expelled from the Bahujan Samaj Party, he has apparently very little to fear about. Hours after his expulsion, he hurled choicest of invectives on Narinder Kashyap in whose leadership he had expressed full faith just 24 hours ago.
Addressing media persons here today Bhagat criticized Kashyap for giving false and baseless statements in media that he had apologized before him for his reported statement. He said he had never met Kashyap personally or telephonically as was claimed in the report.
He warned Kashyap and others not to misguide the innocent, deprived and down trodden workers and masses of BSP of Jammu and Kashmir.
"I have not taken my stand back nor feel guilty to speak against both the leaders and maintained that that what I have spoken is a hard fact’ Bhagat added.
He said that the third list of the candidates for the ensuing assembly elections too were announced without the consent of party president which is totally undemocratic.
The state president appealed to Party supremo to call back these two leaders as they are ignoring and tarnishing the ideology of Baba Sahib Ambedkar, Kanshi Ram.
The band of Bahujan Samaj Party leaders had also caused rippled in the political circles by claiming that Peoples Democratic Party leader Manjit Singh and National Bahujan Party leader Dr Sat Paul were returning to the BSP fold. Both leader have vehemently denied any such move.
