JAMMU, July 6: Department of Centre for Comparative Religious and Civilization Studies (CCRC), Central University of Jammu in collaboration with Centre for Ladakh and Jammu Kashmir Studies (Jammu Kashmir Chapter) organised a webinar named 'Manthan' on the occasion of "Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee Birth Anniversary" on the theme "National Security, Human Rights and Higher Education".
Arif Mohammad Khan, Governor, Kerala was the Chief Guest & Keynote Speaker of the webinar. Prof. Ashok Aima, Vice Chancellor of Central University of Jammu chaired the webinar.
Ramakrishna Goswami (President, Bhartiya Charitra Nirman Sansthan, New Delhi) and Ashutosh Bhatanagar (Director, Centre for Ladakh and Jammu Kashmir Studies) were the guest of Honour for the webinar.
Richa Kothari(Director,CCRC), Dr. Murgesan A (Assistant Professor, CCRC) & Harshvardhan Gupta (Secretary Centre for Ladakh and Jammu Kashmir Studies, JK Chapter) are the organizers of the event Dr. Ajay Kumar Singh (Assistant Professor, CCRC) was the Convenor and moderator of the session.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Ashok Aima welcomed Governor and other distinguished speakers. Kerala Governor Arif Mohammad Khan paid tribute to Dr. Mookerjee on his 120th Birth Anniversary. He asserted the need of emphasizing on the foundation principle of Indian culture that will give impetus to understand Human Rights, National Security & Higher Education.
He explained the meaning of Dharma by reciting various verses of Ancient Religious texts. He termed India as a Land of Spiritual Democracy. Governor highlighted the last speech of Dr. Mookerjee's in parliament. His final speech gave the crystal-clear posturing of his role in struggle for J&K. He was visionary who was against the forces of Inequality which would enhance dissatisfaction in the society and would later turn into Violence.Arif Mohammad Khan refuted the claim of Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee's of being communal and appealed academic community to enhance research on the visionary personality & life of Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee
Ashutosh Bhatnagar underlined Dr. Mookerjee's contribution in academia and his vocal confrontations for the cause of nation in the parliament. Ashutosh Bhatnagar explained the historical contribution of Dr. Mookerjee in The Integration of the nation.
Rama Krishna Goswami during his address explained through the verse of Bhagavad Gita about the need to emphasize on the criminal justice system to establish the religious system. He demanded Bharat Ratna for Dr. Syama prasad Mookerjee. He emphasised on The Right to Equality, Gender Equality & Human Rights Citing Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
Dr. Ajay Singh shared the landmark initiatives of Central University of Jammu in the field of study of religious studies and thanked Vice Chancellor Prof. Ashok Aima for the constant support to the department and study of Comparative Religious study in the University. Dr. Richa Kothari gave vote of thanks and greeted distinguished Guest Speakers, Kerala Governor, University Faculty members and students.
