| Natrang stages ‘Red Tape’ | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Oct 19:'Red Tape'• a play in Hindi adapted and directed by Balwant Thakur presented here today in Natrang's regular weekly Sunday Theatre series at Natrang Studio Theatre. Jammu. Based on Safdar Hashmi.s street play DTC Ki Dhandhli, the play Red Tape exposes the nexus of the politicians. Bureaucrats and the police to benefit the capitalists. The play begins with a protest by a group of people against the irrational increase of the bus-fares. The leaders advice not to take law in their hands and lodge complaint again~: the Transport Department. Here begins a new journey covering table to table to reach the Transport commissioner. Explaining reasons producing documents, datas, replying quarries. and justifying logics it takes months to formally prepare a case against the increase of fares by public and private transporters. By the time the case file reaches, and the Transport Commissioner finds the time to have a look at the file, another file reaches to the commissioner for further enhancement of the fares which he gladly approves. Here people protest against the Government by blocking the traffic who in return are severely beaten by the police. Injured reach hospital and the left-outs finds a place in the lockup. The transporters host a party in the honour of local leaders, bureaucrats and the police officers. The evening is celebrated by with a big pump and show complimenting each other for peaceful maintenance of law and order. Big party makes banner headlines in the media showering praises, compliments and appreciation for the high order of good governance. Natrang actors put their best to make it a experience of life. Hemant Bhola as Transport Commissioner. Mohit Sharma as Police officer and Rohit Verma as elderly man gave engrossing performances. The young protestants were played by Rahul Singh, Pankush Verma Mohd. Yasing, Salil Mahajan, Amit Sharma and Arvind Singh. The music was scored by Mohit Sharma and lights were designed and executed by Gaurav Jamwal. |
