| Scholarships for blinds announced | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Oct 19 : In yet another act of philanthropy, Vijay Kumar Bhagotra, noted social activist and philanthropist has institued monthly scholarship of Rs. 200/- each of four poorest of the poor students of J&K Samaj Kendra School for Hearing /Speech Handicapped (Deaf & Dumb) school. In may, 2008, he instituted Judge Harbans Lal Bhagotra Annual Scholarship of Rs. 1100/- each of four meritorious cum poor students of the school by donating of Rs. 51000/- in the form of Bank Fixed Deposit in the everlasting memory of his father Late Judge Sahib. In the Executive Body meeting of the Kendra, the four most deserving students, three girls and one boy were selected for the scholarship in the presence of Bhagotra. Two of the selected students hail from interior and remote area of Doda, the release said. The entire J&K Samaj Kalyan Kendra family express gratitude to Bhagotra for his act of benevolence, as the needy and have-nots need support of all those who can afford and render it. It is largely through generous public donations that the Kendra is able to run successfully the only Institution for the education and empowerment of Hearing & Speech impaired boys and girls in the entire state of Jammu & Kashmir, since 1981. |
