| Impressive procession on Gurta Gaddi Divas in Udhampur | | | SARITA JAMWAL
UDHAMPUR, Oct 19: To mark the 300th year celebrations of "Gurta Gaddi Divas", an impressive Nagar Kirtan procession was taken out in Udhampur today .The procession was jointly organized by Guru Teg Bahadur Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee Omara Morh to celebrate the 300th Gurta Gaddi Divas.
A large number of Sikh Sangat participated in the Nagar Kirtan which started from Guru Teg Bahudur Gurudwara Omara and after passing through various bazaars culminated at Omara.
The procession and highly decorated vehicle carrying the holy Shri Guru Granth Sahib was led by Panj Piaras amidst slogans "Jo Bholey So Nehal Sat Shri Akal".
Shoba yatra included tableaus of various types in which children in their colourful traditional dresses were seen riding on the decorated tractor trolleys Women in large numbers were chanting bhajans- kirtans followed the shoba yatra .
Speaking on the occasion, speakers threw lights on the life and teachings of Shri Guru Granth Sahib and called upon the people to follow teachings of the Guru. They said that Guru ji gave the message of equality, peace and universal brotherhood.
They further pointed out it was need of the hour to follow these teachings. They said that Guru showed mankind the path of ultimate truth and preached universal brotherhood. His teachings of love, faith in God, tolerance and selfless service have great relevance in this materialistic world. |
