Nitu Gupta, Additional Commissioner State Taxes Department was also present in the meeting.
While Interacting on the occasion Arun Gupta informed the Commissioner State Taxes Department that at the time of introduction of GST the business community was told that this is a good and simple tax but now some heads of the department have complicated this GST as they are involved in imposing huge penalties to the traders with some minor technical issues.
Arun Gupta also demanded the reimbursement of GST to the Industrial Units which are pending since more than two years. Chamber also demanded that VAT Amnesty which was announced earlier was not availed by some traders due to Covid-19 Pandemic as such the period of availing amnesty should be extended further. Chamber also demanded that the limit of GST E-way bills should be enhanced from 50 thousand to 1 lac. Chamber further demanded that the traders who are registered with the Department in VAT regime had deposited securities. These securities be released with immediate effect.
He also said that the State Taxes Department is engaged in penalizing the assesses who have already deposited the actual tax amount within time but could not file their returns in time. We request that these assesses should be granted suitable time to file their returns without any penalty.
Gupta also pointed out that when any party wants to surrender their RC they are asked to file GSTR-10 which the trader has to file within a period of 15 days and after that a penalty of Rs. 200 per day is imposed. Chamber is of the opinion that taking into consideration the present situation due to Covid-19 Pandemic and other genuine condition this period should be extended at least upto 2 months.
The Commissioner State taxes was also apprised that GST on the small Dhabas should be abolished.
While reacting the Commissioner State Taxes Department assured the Chamber team that all the points raised in today's meeting are well taken and we will see that no trader is undue harassed.
