New Population Policy
Omkar Dattatray7/10/2021 11:11:28 PM
Population of the country is increasing by leaps and bounds and there is population explosion. Increasing population is a dangerous proposition and a threat to the economic development of the country.
There is as such need for the population control and population planning .The increasing population is a drain on the resources of the nation and all the fruits of development are nullified by the growing population and the increasing population is a great threat to the nations economy as all planning of the economy is put at naught by the ever growing population.
The population bomb is staring the economy and diminishing all the efforts of the economic development and thus there should be a national policy on the population control if we want the economic development of the country. If the population is allowed to increase at the present rate we will fail to provide the two square meals to the increasing numbers.
The government and the political parties seem to be not concerned with the growing population and it does not seem to be in the agenda of the powers as as such we face the problem of the population explosion. Thus before it is too late we should have a national policy on the increasing population to arrest the growing population. Our population is next only to China and if the population is allowed to increase at this rate the day will not be far off when we will surpass even China in the population. Population control and population planning should be on the priority of the government but it seems that it does not attract the attention of the planners and the political executive. There is thus urgent need for the new population policy to control the increasing number of the people so that the increasing number of the people will not consume all the fruits of the development and as such the powers should plan and control the increasing population for the sake of the development of the country. The increasing number of the people leads to the problem of unemployment in the country as the nation fails to provide the jobs to the growing number of persons.
Thus unemployment is one of the consequences of the rising population and the growing unemployment is a burning problem of the country and we should be able to provide gainful employment to the increasing number of the people. Not that we do not have a national policy on population but it is on papers only and there is thus urgent need to have a new practical policy on the population control .The increasing number of the people is controlled so that the gains of the economic development reach to every one.
Thus the Modi government should embark on a national policy of the population control to fight the menace of the unemployment and to ensure that the resources of the country are not spoiled due to the increasing number of the people. So there is urgent need to control the growing number of the people who are a threat to the national prosperity .
It is so good that the UP government is deciding to have a new policy on the population control and the centre government should take a cue from the population policy of the UP government and replicate same for the central level.
Therefore the central government should frame a new and practical policy on the population control so that the growing population will not be a reason for the underdevelopment of the nation.
Thus without wasting the time the planners and administrators should cease the opportunity and frame a new national policy on population control otherwise we will have to remain in the state of under development. We find that there is rush of people everywhere and the schools, collages, hospitals and all public places are jam packed due to the increasing population and all the efforts of the societal and economic development is consumed by the increasing number of the people. So what is needed is a national policy on population control so that our march of the development is not curtailed any more by the growing population.
Population planning and family planning should be the main focus of the new population policy. The couples who have only two children should get incentives and preference in the national schemes and programmes.
The people who have more than two children should be barred from contesting the elections to panchayats ,municipal committees and the state assemblies as well as to the central parliament. This will be a catalyst to the national development.
Moreover there should be an incentive to the children of those couples who have only two children in the educational and professional institutions.
Not only this there should be incentive for their off springs in the matter of government and private jobs and this way we will be able to control the population.
Anyway there is urgent need to have a new national policy on population control so that we are able to march with acceleration on the societal and economic development for all including the backward areas of the country.
The UP government has prepared the draft of the population control act and has asked the public to give their suggestions up to 19th july and the population act will come into force in assembly session very soon.
There are many provisions in the population control act such as the couple having only two children will be given preference in the government jobs and they will be entitled to promotions as well as the additional two increments.
Besides this there will be many other incentives for the people like free education ,free medical facility and discount in the property tax etc to those who will have only one or two children.
The person who has more than two children well be debarred to contest the panchayat and municipal elections.
In belief it can be said that there is great need for the new population policy at the national level so that the increasing population is controlled for the nations development.
