CTA delegation calls on Advisor, Secy HED
7/12/2021 11:44:44 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, July 12: A delegation of College Teachers' Association (CTA) led by its President, Dr Rakesh Jasrotia called upon the Advisor (B) and Secretary HED, Sushma Chauhan at Civil Secretariate Srinagar and apprised them of the long pending demands of the College Teachers' fraternity of J&K. It was strongly highlighted that there is huge backlog of placement cases that the college teachers have been waiting for a long time to be cleared that too with the monetary benefit from the date of eligibility and not from the date of DPC as was unjustifiably done for the first time in the history of Higher Education Department in the last DPC held in Feb, 2020 for none of their fault as the placements of college teachers are time bound. The other issues that were vehemently raised to be resolved immediately included the restoration of advanced increments for higher qualifications, Implementation of UGC Regulations-2018 in toto without any further delay, enhancement of age of superannuation for college teachers, provision of Study Leave for pursuing higher qualifications as per UGC norms, introduction of post of Professor at college level under CAS as provisioned in UGC Regualtions-2018 and already extended to the faculty members of Engineering Colleges of J&K, Delegation of powers to the Directorate of Colleges for the smooth functioning of Higher Education Department, Adoption of Rational and Transparent Transfer Policy and immediate relief to the faculty members posted away from their home districts for a very long time. The President CTA also conveyed the growing resentment among the college teachers because of unnecessary delay in the resolution of their genuine demands. The delegation also met Manoj Kumar Dwivedi, Commissioner Secretary, GAD for certain issues requiring the concurrence of the GAD. The Advisor (B) and the Secretary HED patiently listened to the demands of college teachers and assured that the necessary steps shall be taken for the expeditious resolution of all the issues at the earliest. The President CTA was accompanied by Prof Amit Kumar Sharma (General Secretary), Prof Mohd Qayoom (Finance Secretary), Dr Saravjeet Singh (Joint Finance Secretary) and Dr Lokender Singh.
