Extensive Agriculture Law Enforcement Drive-cum-campaign launched in Jammu div

JAMMU, July 12: To enforce the Laws and Rules in vogue as per FCO.1985, Insecticide Act'1968 and Seed Act'1966, the Law Enforcement wing of Agriculture Department has launched an extensive Drive-cum-Campaign in Udhampur, Doda, Ramban, Kishtwar & Kathua districts.
The drive launched is in continuation to earlier drive conducted for three days from 23rd to 25th June 2021 for Rajouri and Poonch Districts.
At the onset of the drive, the team of Law enforcement functionaries headed by B.K. Chandan, Director Law Enforcement, J&K Government was launched initially in Udhampur District, where a large number of dealers dealing in sale of Fertilizers, Seeds and Pesticides were checked and inspected enroute from Chenani, Latti, Batote, Doda, Kishtwar, Bhaderwah, Basholi and Billawar areas of Kathua District.
Roshan Lal Bhagat, Assistant Director Law Enforcement along-with a team of Enforcement Inspectors under the supervision of B.K. Chandan, Director Law Enforcement issued on the spot instructions to the dealers to strictly adhere the rules and procedures in vogue, Contravention notices, Inspection notes and warnings were also issued to the concerned dealers in respect of shortcomings detected on the spot .They were also warned that any body as and when found selling Spurious / Misbranded / Non-Standard Agriculture Inputs or found indulged in hoarding; Black Marketing and charging higher rates over and above the fixed Minimum Retail Price (MRP) shall be brought to the book by launching prosecution against the defaulters under Law in vogue.
Around 152 different samples of Seeds and Insecticides were also drawn from score of the dealers for Chemical Analysis from the Notified Quality Control Testing Laboratories in order to check supply of spurious Agriculture Inputs in the market as is essential and imperative for the overall up- gradation and welfare of farming community.
