Eager to test fate, parties welcome polls

JAMMU, Oct 19: Both regional and national political parties in the state have welcomed the decision of election commission of India (ECI) for conducting the assembly elections in the state on time and further describe it a right decision in a democratic set up. Leaders of these parties in there separate messages said these elections will give chance to the people of state to choose the next government in the state.
The senior national leader of BJP, Arun Jaitley and party incharge for J&K state, said it a welcome step, beside describe it a festival season. He said BJP was always favouring elections on right time so that people can use right of franchise. There is absolute normalcy in J&K state, except in some pockets in valley, but situation in these pockets is also limping towards normalcy.
Member Parliament and President National Conference, Omar Abdullah in a telephonic conversation with this correspondent said it is better to have elected government than Governor’s rule. He said NC was never against of holding elections but stressed for ground realities in the state. Now ECI has announced the date for elections, NC will gear up their cadre and will face people as party since its inception always worked for the balanced development of all regions.
The Bahujan Samaj party state incharge, Narinder Kashyap said, workers of the party hailed ECI decision and are eagerly waiting for the day to cast the vote. He said party has already announced the names of candidates for various assembly seats in the state. He hoped that ECI will take full steps in holding elections free and fair, so that the next government formed will function smoothly in the state.
Prof. Bhim Singh, Chairman JKNPP, while welcoming the holding of elections, expressed shock and anger on un-reasonable and arbitrary election schedule announced by the election commission of India, without understanding the Geographical conditions of the state. He said the long process of holding elections in the state is going to benefit Congress and NC who have reached some secret understanding with each other.
The CPI (M) General Secretary for J&K M.Y. Taragami while talking ‘Early Times’ on phone from Kashmir, said though party suggested more time for holding the elections in state, but now date has been announced and as such it is an challenge and added party accept it.
Ghulam Hasssan Mir, president Jammu Kashmir Democratic party also welcome of holding assembly elections in time. During Governor rule common man suffer a lot as he no approach to reach Raj Bhawan to mitigate his problems. In democracy it is better to have people representation in the administration than to be ruled by bureaucrats on behalf of Governor. He said voter will turn out in Great number as they want peace and stability. He said since 1947 there has been voter percentage less or more, but learning every thing aside people choose their representatives for the assembly.
Darakshan Andrabi, president Socialist Democratic Party is of the view that it is right decision at a right time. She said people are eagerly waiting for the elections and now with announcement of date people in large are happy. She said SDP is ready to contest and will announce the name of candidates for assembly seats.
Ex. Member Parliament and state president of Samajwadi Party (SP) said it would have been better if the election were held in next March on April. But now ECI has announced the date SP will participate in it and will contest in 51 constituencies in the state. He preferred that the delimitation of assemblies should have been done first, that holding of election.
