| J&K SRTC earns a reveue of Rs 74.80 crores | | | Srinagar | September 12
Jammu and Kashmir State Road Transport Corporation (SRTC) earned a revenue of Rs 74.80 crore by improving and operating bus and truck services in and around the state during the last financial year.
The services include inter-state and tourist services comprising of 249 vehicles. The fleet of the corporation includes 666 buses and 417 trucks.
This information was given here today at a high level officers meeting, chaired by Minister for Transport and Chairman SRTC Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen.
The minister said, government intends to give a new shape to the corporation and budgetary support of about Rs 74 crore has been provided to the corporation during the last three years.
He said corporation is operating 109 super deluxe coaches between Jammu and other states of the country, expecting revenue of Rs 21 crore during the current financial year.
The Minister assured that steps would be taken to make 350 vehicles of the corporation functional, which are presently not road worthy. He directed for adopting a transparent policy in purchasing of spare parts and other items required in the corporation.
He said, the matter regarding services of 1200 surplus employees and their voluntary retirement would be discussed at appropriate level.
The Transport Minister directed to utilise the prime land available with the corporation at Pathankot and other parts in Jammu and Kashmir so that income of the corporation is increased. |
