| Sikhs celebrate ‘GuRta-Gadi Diwas’ | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Oct 20: A grand religious function was held at Gurudwara Yadgan Guru Nanak Dev Ji, Chand Nagar by the District Gurudwara Parbandhak committee to celebrate the tri-centenary of Guruship of Guru Granth Sahib Ji (Gupta Gadi Diwas). The 10th Guru Gobind Singh while departing for heaven had bestowed upon this holy book of Sikhs the Guruship and had ordained the Sikh devotees to worship only Guru Granth Sahib during out 1708 at Nanded (Maharashtra). Since then this revered Granthi is being worshiped by the Sikhs. On the occasion various religious preachers historians brought awareness about this historical event and ragi Jathas recited the Gurbani from the verses of the granth sahib. Prof. Manjit Singh, ex-Jathedar Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib was the main preacher in this religious function. However, a sikh child, Tejwant Singh impressed the gathering with his knowledge about the religious resources through out the function. |
