| Ensure free polls: Chaman | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Oct 20: To ensure free and fair polls in this sensitive State of Jammu and Kashmir, the former Union Minister and a senior BJP leader Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta has impressed upon the Election Commission to take extra measures to check the abuse of power by the Congress as this party has a criminal track record of playing foul with the electoral process whenever it was in power at the Centre as also in this state.
The Election Commission must take measures to keep the sanctity of the poll process which was established in the last assembly elections, he added and maintained that if the true democratic spirit would have worked during all these years, there had been no internal unrest in Jammu and Kashmir despite evil designs of Pakistan.
The BJP leader appealed the electorate to defeat all those parties who play foul with their democratic rights and indulge in playing fraud with the rights. In this regard he also assailed those who put embargo and hurdles in the way of fair delimitation of assembly constituencies.
Prof. Gupta alleged that the Congress led Centre in Jammu and Kashmir had been quite guilty for playing wrong with the democratic process and this foul play with the elections as also otherwise was responsible for many ills. |
