DSEJ hosts Mega Virtual Career Guidance Session for 10th-12th Board Pass Outs

JAMMU, July 17: Counselling Cell, Directorate of School Education Jammu in collaboration with Institute for Career Studies (ICS) International organised a webinar on the topic 'Be Future Ready with your Best Fit Subject, Course and Career Choices' in which Dr. Amrita Dass, one of the leading career consultant and pioneering career counsellor of India was the resource person.
More than 1000 participants including students, parents, teachers, counsellors, and HOIs attended it online. This webinar was live-streamed on Face book page of ICS.
Dr Ravi Shankar Sharma, Director School Education, Jammu in his introductory remarks applauded the efforts of counselling cell for choosing relevant theme/s especially in view of the dilemmas arisen due to COVID19 pandemic. Myths of lesser academic/subject selection choices overpower our students mind but informed learners via such sessions will realise that world is the stage to choose the right career, he added.
Let's call our parents to provide support/strength to wards for expressing their best. He laid emphasis on the activation of counselling services in schools to guide the confused and directionless students amidst the bombardment of information.
Dr. Amrita Dass, Founder Director Institute for Career Studies (ICS International), a renowned educationist and career consultant conducted the session in a spell-bound manner. She talked about formulae of rewarding career which will earn one recognition, remuneration and satisfaction. She apprised learners about the "power of now" and through slogan 'If you can dream it, you can do it' with live examples of what was happening in our world like spaceship dream coming true, flying car etc. Don't be conditioned but be open to new horizons and added that there are no ideal career but there are always ideal choices.
She concluded her presentation with the quote of Dr A.P.J.Abdul Kalam of "What I can do for You" i.e. one has to be generous and humane for real success.
The session was followed by Q&A session in which students asked varied and interesting questions. Questions like best subject for civil services aspirants, best colleges of nursing in J&K, how I can be best researcher of my field, how to cater to varied aspirations of parents and learners, studying abroad, career in acting, Radiology, animation, biotechnology and subject match etc.
All queries were very well attended with satisfactory answers by Dr. Amrita Dass one by one.
Romesh Kumar Sharma, Head counselling cell and moderator of the session assured the participants of holding such amazing webinars in future as well to attend the unattended queries/apprehensions of our students and other stakeholders.

Counsellor Shanti Saroop Sharma, Dr. Alka Sharma, Dr Surinder, Preeti Sharma, Psychological Task Force Members and many others contributed in the smooth conduct of this webinar.
