| Vohra assures free polls | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Oct 20: The Governor NN Vohra today had a meeting with representatives of different political parties in Srinagar and assured them of free, fair and impartial elections. Interacting with leaders of various political parties here this afternoon, the Governor said that the Control Rooms would function round the clock and remain positioned till the ongoing Election process is over. He said that the telephone numbers of these Control Rooms would be notified in the next few days to the headquarters of all the political parties as well as to the public at large, to be able lodge reports and seek urgent help. Vohra reiterated his Administration's resolve to ensure free, fair, and fearless elections in the State. He said the Government machinery is being fully geared to meet the arising challenges and the necessary security environment will be generated for smooth electioneering by the political parties and contestants and for the maximum turn out during the ensuing seven-phase polls. The meeting was attended by the senior leaders of National Conference, Congress, Peoples Democratic Front, Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party, Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Party CPI and Bharatiya Janata Party. Each of these leaders gave valuable suggestions regarding the administrative, organizational and security requirements in the next two months, Advisor to Governor, Dr Sudhir S Bloeria and Principal Secretary to Governor, Mr B B Vyas, were present on the occasion. |
