| Transfer list still in pangs | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Oct 20: Uncertainty is still prevailing over the high powered transfer list of the Governor’s administration which were ordered on the eve of election announcement. Hours after the election announcement, the government had on Sunday released a list of transfers and postings in civil administration and Police. The transfers affected key officers including Home Secretary, Deputy Commissioners of three districts and Superintendents of Police earning a criticism of the Election Commission which stayed implementation of the order. All officers transferred on Sunday and asked by the Governor’s administration to take over new positions with immediate effect are still continuing on their existing postings as the Election Commission is yet to clear the list. “The government can not implement order till permission is obtained from the Election Commission”, J&K’s Chief Election Officer BR Sharma told EARLY TIMES. State administration cannot transfer or promote any bureaucrat without any prior permission of election commission, Sharma said and added, in present case the government had applied for the permission to election commission which is under consideration. “As soon as the permission will be granted, then and only then, they can implement the order”, said Sharma when asked how long the clearance will take. |
