10/21/2008 10:40:53 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Oct 21: State Vice President Yuva Panthers and member state working committee JKNPP Romesh Khajuria has urged Governor N N Vohra to direct the concerned authorities to take immediate steps to conduct on spot survey to assess-the damage suffered by the farmers due to heavy rainfall and hailstorm.
Addressing media persons here today, Romesh Khajuria said that the farmers of various villages of Jammu province expressed anguish towards the administration for showing no concern towards the losses of the farmers.
He added that even after six days of damage due to rainfall nobody from the authorities have come for assessment of damage.
Khajuria said farmers are so frustrated that they threatened to boycott the coming elections if the compensation was not provided to them in time by the administration.
Khajuria said in future the Government should devise a policy to insure the standing crops, which often got damaged due to weather conditions like heavy rainfall, hail storm, drought, snowfall and floods.
