| Jammu traders say Hurriyat intervening in business | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Oct 21: Expressing concern over the provocative statement of Hurriyat Conference asking Kashmiri traders to completely boycott Jammu, Jammu Business Coordination Committee (JBCC) and Jammu CFA and Distributors Association has slammed Hurriyat Conference for creating wedge between Jammu and Kashmir trader ties. Addressing media persons here this afternoon, Kulbushan Mohtra, chairman of JBCC said that after the dispute between the traders of Jammu region and their counterparts in Kashmir which has risen due to some misunderstanding should have been resolved with the traditional business ties being restored as a result of mutual understanding. "It is unfortunate that Hurriyat Conference and other anti-social elements have been threatening and forcing the Kashmiri traders to boycott Jammu traders", he added. Mohtra said that after a short of period of misunderstanding 80 per cent of trade has been resumed as traders of Kashmiri have started taking products from Jammu but resuming trade between Jammu and Kashmir are not digested by some vested elements in Kashmir. He categorically refuted that there was any economic blockage of Kashmir from the side of the business community in Jammu so much that FMCG goods worth Rs. 9.66 crore were supplied by the Jammu Commission forwarding Agents and Distributors to the distributors in the Valley during the period of July and August, when the agitation was going on in Jammu and if there was some discomfort in valley during that period it was due to curfew, shutdown and Chakka Jam, he maintained. Mohtra further emphasized that the business relations between Jammu & Kashmir valley have remained cordial, to the mutual interest of both the parties and the same will continue without being influenced by the political forces, who indulge in creating division and bickering between the people of two regions. Expressing dismay over the state government attitude on this issue, the Chairman asked the state administration to involve in this matter and help to resume complete trader ties and take on those who are indulging in creating wedge between traders of both regions. Mohtra informed that hundreds of truck loads of fruits from Kashmir are coming in Jammu, which is being sold in Jammu market as well as in other parts of the country. |
