Youth Congress protests against fuel prices, Pegasus spyware issue
Uday seeks Supreme Court intervention in Pegasus spying case
7/23/2021 12:02:02 AM

EARLY TIMES REPORT

JAMMU, July 22: J&K Youth Congress today staged protest rising fuel prices and Pegasus spyware issue here today.
Led by Uday Bhanu Chib, President J&K unit, the Youth Congress activists assembled near Jammu East Constituency and raised slogans against the BJP government in the Centre. Divyansh Singh, Secretary JKPYC, Rahul Tandon DYC Working President and Jung Bhadhur Sharma, senior Congress leader Jammu East also joined the protest.
Talking to reporters today, Uday Chib sought an inquiry by a Supreme Court judge into the Pegasus spyware issue. He questioned why such an inquiry had not been ordered by the government as yet, considering France had already done so. He said, "The issue of spying through Pegasus is a very big one. It is not only about snooping; several other things are involved too. Youth Congress demands an inquiry by a Supreme Court judge into the matter."
Tandon stated that there is no legitimate reason for the Modi-led central government to avoid having the matter investigated.
Divyansh Singh said that general public is suffering badly on account of economic slowdown, unemployment and unbridled inflation besides taking care of their family against the deadly Corona infection.
He said that the woes and miseries of the common man today are attributed to the wrong policies of the Bharatiya Janata Party Government at the Centre. He said that petrol and diesel prices are at all-time high having made history; LPG prices have doubled as compared to their prices before 2014 while the prices of vegetables, fruits, edible oils, pulses, eggs and other essentials are out of reach of the common man.
Rahul Tandon DYC Working President expressed resentment against the move of government for stopping annual practice of Darbar move which will result in loss of all shopkeepers in Jammu. He asserted that several hoteliers and hundreds of shopkeepers in Jammu have been severely affected. He asked government to reconsider its decision of ending annual ‘Darbar Move’ practice.
