| KVK Reasi organizes training programme on organic vegetable cultivation | | | Early Times Report
REASI, July 26: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Reasi under the administrative control of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology-Jammu (SKUAST-J) organized a farmers' training programme on "Entrepreneurship Development in Organic Vegetables Cultivation" today at Dhanwa village of Pouni block in Reasi district.
The programme was enthusiastically attended by a number of aspiring farmers/women farmers of the area. The programme was organized under the guidance of Director Extension of SKUAST-J, Dr SK Gupta.
Dr Banarsi Lal, Scientist and Head of KVK, Reasi started the programme with the warm welcome of the participants. In the introductory session, Dr Banarsi briefed the importance and scope of organic vegetables and urged the participants for the commercial organic vegetable by which they can enhance their income and employment. He educated the participants on the principles and practices of organic farming.
He highlighted the use of vermicompost, biofertilisers, neem cake etc. in organic vegetables cultivation. He emphasized on the production of chemical free vegetables and guided farmers on the quality seeds of vegetables which can give the higher returns. He also guided participants to make the low cost vermicompost units, Panchgavya, cow urine, jeevamrit, fermented butter milk etc. He suggested the organic management of insect-pests, diseases and weeds in their vegetables. He also educated farmers on the certification of organic farm produce. He stressed on the processing of organic vegetables for more profits. Organic inputs were also distributed among the participants during the programme. Participants raised many quarries during the training programme which were answered satisfactorily by the KVK scientist. The programme was assisted by Manohar Lal and concluded by Dr Banarsi Lal with formal vote of thanks. |
