| J&K traders visiting PaK mid Nov | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Oct 22: A trade delegation consisting members of Jammu and Kashmir Chambers of Commerce is expected to visit Pakistan Occupied Kashmir in the second week of November to finalize starting traditional trade between the two neighbouring countries. Symbolic trade started between the two rival countries after a gap of 61 years on Tuesday as goods laden trucks crossed Line of Control at two places -Aman Setu at Kaman post and Chankan da bagh in Poonch. President of the Jammu Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Ram Sahai when contacted said that they are planning a visit to PoK in the second week of November. He said they are still awaiting formal clearance from the higher authorities before undertaking the visit. He said the purpose of the visit would be to explore the potential of the trade items and increase the trade list. Sahai said recently when 19- member trade delegation from PoK visited parts of Jammu and Kashmir and interacted with local traders and a special exhibition was organized to facilitate process of short listing trade items. Sahai added on the invitation of the PoK traders, a trade delegation from the state would visit PoK before formally launching trade between the two sides. He said in PoK we will explore the markets and assess their potential to include more trade items in the list. He said they have requested both the countries to expedite finalization of trade modalities to kick start the trade. |
