| Sheikh asks officers to comply with MCC | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
RAJOURI, Oct 22: Deputy Commissioner, Rajouri, Sheikh Rafiq Ahmed, who is also District Election Officer, convened a joint meeting of political parties, revenue and police officers here today in connection with polls scheduled to be held here on November, 23 in the second phase.
During the meeting, various issues regarding strict compliance of code of conduct, venue of public meetings and security were discussed threadbare. The guidelines of Election Commission of India for conducting free and fair polls were conveyed to the political parties who were also asked to adhere to it in letter and spirit.
It was enjoined upon the Tehsildars and police officers not to allow any political party to use public property, government buildings and educational institutions to their premise for electioneering. They were directed to identify suitable places where political parties can conduct public meetings and rallies.
It was impressed upon them too implement code of conduct by observing highest standard of transparency and neutrality.
Senior Superintendent of Police, speaking at the meeting said that the security for public meetings and rallies of all political parties shall be provided at the identified places/venues only, adding that no public meeting will be allowed in market places and government institutions. |
