Jammu district based on largest number of segments
Except Kulgam, all new districts have two constituencies each

JAMMU, Oct 22: Out of the 87 assembly constituencies scheduled to go for polls from November 17, 2008 onwards in Jammu and Kashmir, 80 constituencies fall in the general category and seven are reserved constituencies. The reserved constituencies are Ramban, Chenani, Hiranagar, Samba, R. S. Pora, Raipur Domana and Chhamb.
Among the 22 districts comprising the State of Jammu and Kashmir, Jammu district has the highest number of 11constituencies followed by Srinagar district with 8, Baramulla district 7, Anantnag district 6, Kupwara, Budgam and Kathua district with 5 each, Pulwama, Kulgam and Rajouri districts with 4 each, Bandipora, Reasi, Udhampur and Poonch districts comprising of 3 each. The rest of the 8 districts namely Ganderbal, Shopian, Leh, Kargil, Kishtwar, Doda, Ramban and Samba consist two assembly constituencies each, making them among the lowest, in terms of the number of constituencies.
In the valley, Srinagar district has the highest number of constituencies namely Habbakadal, Zadibal, Iddgah, Khanyar, Hazratbal, Amira Kadal, Sonawar and Batmaloo. The Kupwara district comprises Karnah, Kupwara, Lolab, Handwara and Langate constituencies while Baramulla district has Uri, Rafiabad, Sopore, Sangrama, Baramulla, Gulmarg and Pattan constituencies. The Bandipora district includes Gurez, Bandipora and Sonawari constituencies while Ganderbal district comprises Kangan and Ganderbal constituencies. The Budgam district comprises Chadoora, Budgam, Beerwah, Khansahib and Chrar-i-Sharief assembly constituencies, Pulwama district has Tral, Pampore, Pulwama and Rajpora constituencies, Shopian district includes Wachi and Shopian constituencies while Kulgam district has Noorabad, Kulgam, Homshalibugh and Devsar constituencies. The Anantnag district comprises Anantnag, Dooru, Kokarnag, Shangus, Bijbehara and Pahalgam constituencies.
The Leh district comprises Nobra and Leh constituencies while Kargil district comprises Kargil and Zanskar assembly constituencies.
The Jammu district constituencies include Nagrota, Gandhinagar, Jammu East, Jammu West, Bishnah, R.S Pora, Suchetgarh, Marh, Raipur Domana, Akhnoor and Chhamb. The Kishtwar district includes Kishtwar and Indarwal, Doda district has Doda and Bhadarwah constituencies, Ramban district includes Ramban and Banihal constituencies. The Reasi district comprises Gulabgarh, Reasi and Gool Arnas constituencies, Udhampur district Chenani, Udhampur and Ramnagar constituencies, Kathua district Bani, Basholi, Kathua, Billawar and Hiranagar constituencies. The Samba district comprises Samba and Vijaypur constituencies. The Rajouri district comprises of Nowshera, Darhal, Rajouri and Kalakote constituencies while Poonch district has Surankote, Mendhar and Poonch Haveli constituencies.
